About Yeshiva Elementary School
Y.E.S was founded in 1987 by local rabbis and teachers who
sensed a growing demand for a high quality, nurturing, Torah based day school education in South Florida. From what originally had been a school of five children housed in a single classroom, Y.E.S has grown into a home for over 350 students. By 1999 the school had clearly outgrown its original location on Alton Road, and moved to its current 50,000 square feet facility at 7902 Carlyle Avenue in Miami Beach.
The building had previously been home to Temple Ner Tamid, a large Conservative congregation. As the synagogue’s membership moved away, the edifice was largely unused. With beautiful stained glass windows and fine craftsmanship, the building begged for another breath of Jewish life. The Ner Tamid board members were committed to see the building used for Jewish purposes, and a wonderful match was made as Yeshiva Elementary School had found it’s much needed new home.
Serving families from Miami to Boca Raton, this has proven to be an excellent location. In recent years, many new arrivals from Latin America have moved within a few miles of the school, and this has contributed greatly to an increase in enrollment.
Y.E.S offers a rigorous dual curriculum within a caring environment, supportive of the development of an enduring Jewish identity. In recent years, 100% of Y.E.S graduates have opted to continue their Jewish education in middle and high school.
